You can make a difference in someone’s life…
Join a very special team by becoming a volunteer for Chandler Hall’s hospice program. Whether you choose to work directly with care recipients and families or volunteer in other ways, you can make a difference in someone’s life, including your own. You’ll discover it’s an extremely rewarding experience for all involved. Volunteer opportunities are as individual as you are, and we welcome volunteers from all walks of life.
How can you help? Choose from opportunities such as:
- Home Hospice Volunteer: Volunteers are matched with a hospice participant and family to provide a variety of supportive services in the participant’s home, which could be their home, the home of a family member, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home.
- Residential Program Volunteer: Volunteers provide support, companionship and personal assistance to residents and families in Chandler Hall’s Heacock Hospice Pavilion located here on our Newtown campus.
- Bereavement Volunteer: Volunteers help with special programs such as bereavement phone contact, memorials, bereavement newsletter, and bereavement support groups.
- Administrative Support Volunteer: Volunteers help in ways that indirectly support the hospice program. Opportunities may include assistance with mailings, filing, data entry, clerical work and special project support.
Chandler Hall’s Hospice Volunteer Training is held several times throughout the year. There are different levels of training offered depending on the volunteer role you choose. There is no cost to participate, however preregistration and a one-year commitment are required.
Our volunteers consistently report that helping people with terminal illnesses through hospice is not about dying but about living. If you have a compassionate and caring heart, a nonjudgmental attitude and the will to make a difference in the lives of our care recipients and families, please consider joining our Hospice Team.
